DrupalEasy Podcast 25: December Roundup

It's been almost a month since we had the gang all together on a single podcast, but good things come to those who wait. Andrew, Ryan, and Mike got together over the holiday break to talk about what has been going on in the Drupal community the past few weeks.

5 Stories

Picks of the Week - every podcast we each pick a module, theme, or other Drupal-related "thing" that we'd like to spread the word about.

  • Mike - Environment Indicator by Tom Kirkpatrick (mrfelton) - Cool little module that puts a handy indicator along the left-hand side of the browser window that tells you what your current environment is (dev server, production server, etc...) The genius behind this module is that the settings are placed in the settings.php file and not the database. Great module to protect you from yourself.
  • Andrew - Filefield Paths by Stuart Clark ( Deciphered ) - adds additional tokens to filefield paths.
  • Ryan - Agaric.com by Benjamin Melançon (Benjamin Melançon ) - great site with lots of Drupal how-to's.

Site of the Week - every podcast we collectively pick a (usually new) Drupal site to be highlighted and discussed. This week's pick is Grammy.com - the official site of the Grammy Awards.

If you'd like your site highlighted, please submit it here: http://DrupalEasy.com/siteoftheweek

Comments

Had a good time and great conversation with Ryan Price, Jacob Pollak, and Rob Krueger. Met some good people and learned some great info. Biggest thing I took away from it was the community of Drupal and the way the community connects and the type or class or persons involved in the community. I am anxious to influence the community in opening the community to more of the average Joe to help better expose the features and benefits of Drupal.

I listened to the latest podcast on my way home from work today and heard you guys mention me; I was the person who left the comment on your last podcast's entry. This time I will actually sign my name, though I believe Ryan found me on Twitter (I'm starshaped there).

Anyway, I also happen to live an hour north of Boston and I attend the Boston Drupal meetup group, so I bet a few of us would be up for a meetup of some sort when you're in the area! We had our normal monthly meetup yesterday, but I'd think something could be arranged. The Boston group is located at http://groups.drupal.org/boston (which is, yeah, fairly obvious) in case you wanted to post something there to get something started. We here in the Boston(ish) area know how to have a good time!

Anyway, I enjoyed the podcast, as always. Glad you're putting them out fairly consistently!

Hello there,

Just letting you know that I've recently discovered your podcast. I'm interested and will keep following you guys. Especially interested in your module reviews and picks of the month. It's good to here stuff about modules I've never used myself or even never heard of.
If you could spend some more time on technical details of Drupal 7 core, that would be great. Just a thought.
I will soon be working on a SAAS using the Drupal framework, hence my interest in the technical details.
Keep up the good work.

Bye.

Hi Joachim,

I imagine we'll be talking more and more about Drupal 7 since it's coming closer to official release. Based on how the news is shaping up I think one of the topics we'll be covering in the next podcast is Drupal 7 performance with and without Pressflow. Also once the alpha is out expect more articles/quicktips talking about D7.

I am a devoted listener since episode #1 and mostly enjoy them very much. I would like some more episodes with all of you guys. The interviews are usually very interesting but on the entertainment frontline the group podcasts rule. Keep them coming.
